Secrets Of A Successful Wellness Business Owner

Secrets Of A Successful Wellness Business Owner

I want to talk about a bit of a taboo subject in the health and wellness world:  money. Why do I want to talk about money? Because I believe that your health and your finances are inextricably linked. I also believe that we all need to learn how to make a comfortable income (with plenty of time to enjoy it) so we can live our purpose on this planet. The world needs it. Badly. I have a confession to make:  I only work three days a week (sometimes less) and I make a full-time income. But it wasn’t always that way. Five years ago, I was working full-time at my acupuncture clinic treating 25-30 patients a week and making a great income.   After working so hard for months on end, however, my body finally waved a white flag and I came down with pneumonia. I had to cancel my patients for six weeks.   That was my wake-up call. Sick in bed, stressed about my income flow (or lack of, since I wasn’t...

You’re More Of A Leader Than You Think

You’re More Of A Leader Than You Think

I used to think I wasn’t a leader. Whenever someone talked about “leadership” I assumed it didn’t concern me. I don’t have any employees, I work for myself, I’m not planning on starting a revolution any time soon.   Recently, I’ve realized being a leader means becoming internally aligned with your message, your purpose for being on the planet.   It means loving yourself and knowing that you are worthy to speak and be heard. It means being vulnerable and tough simultaneously. I know my purpose for being on this planet is to spread the message of women’s health and empowerment. If I could have my way, it would be that every woman feel beautiful, healthy, powerful, honored, and financially free. (And, yes, money is a big part of the women’s health and empowerment picture!)   I believe we all have a purpose for being here, a special gift to improve other’s lives.   I believe you have a bigger impact than you realize, and I believe if you put...

How To Accomplish Your Goals Without Losing Steam (Or Self-Esteem)

How To Accomplish Your Goals Without Losing Steam (Or Self-Esteem)

A real inspiration killer is trying to work toward a goal when you needed that goal to happen yesterday. Or 5 years ago. Whether it be a financial goal, a health goal, or a life goal, if the “getting there” doesn’t feel good, or if you feel desperate for it to happen, you will block any flow of divine creativity, love or abundance, which would help you reach your goal. Let’s face it, setting goals can be stressful. It sounds like a good idea at first, but as time goes by and you’re working your tail off and your progress is not what you expected, or the timeframe changes, or the path doesn’t look anything like what you envisioned, you can start to question yourself. With New Year’s just two weeks away, I think it’s important to address this popular topic of goal-setting, and offer some new insights that will make setting and reaching for your goals a more rewarding and empowering experience.   Try these simple, yet...

My Experience With Marie Forleo’s B-School: The Scariest and Best Decision I Ever Made

My Experience With Marie Forleo’s B-School: The Scariest and Best Decision I Ever Made

It’s that time of year… B-School is open for enrollment! I like to think of myself as a B-School pioneer because I was in Marie’s very first B-School class. I think there were 100 people, give or take, in the program. Fast forward to today, thousands of people have gone through B-School and Marie was just interviewed by OPRAH! (If you missed that gem, here it is.) Needless to say, Marie Forleo’s B-School completely blew my mind when I first took it 3 years ago.   Fresh out of acupuncture school, I was frustrated with my lack of business savvy, and it showed in my bank account and patient load.   After stumbling upon Marie’s website, I got to know her through her blog and friendly emails. When she opened Rich, Happy and Hot B-School (as it was called then) with Laura Roeder I hoped I had found the help I was looking for and I just prayed that it wasn’t too expensive. When the shopping cart opened to...

How Do You Move On From A Painful Experience?

How Do You Move On From A Painful Experience?

The day I came home from spending a week in the hospital, I painstakingly made my way into the backyard, sat on a chair in the sun and watched my husband mow the lawn as my puppy jumped up to sit beside me. I’ve never been so grateful for the breeze on my face, for the warm dark fur next to my leg, for my full pregnant belly, and for my husband taking care of the house, taking care of me.   How do you move on from a painful experience? I’ve been asking myself this question a lot lately.   A month ago, I was at a friend’s baby shower when I started to feel strong contractions. I knew something wasn’t right, so I left immediately to go home and rest. I called my husband, he raced home, and after talking with our midwife, we decided to go to the emergency room. After 10 hours of painful contractions one minute apart, the doctor finally found what he thought...
