Secrets Of A Successful Wellness Business Owner
I want to talk about a bit of a taboo subject in the health and wellness world: money.
Why do I want to talk about money?
Because I believe that your health and your finances are inextricably linked.
I also believe that we all need to learn how to make a comfortable income (with plenty of time to enjoy it) so we can live our purpose on this planet. The world needs it. Badly.
I have a confession to make: I only work three days a week (sometimes less) and I make a full-time income.
But it wasn’t always that way.
Five years ago, I was working full-time at my acupuncture clinic treating 25-30 patients a week and making a great income.
After working so hard for months on end, however, my body finally waved a white flag and I came down with pneumonia. I had to cancel my patients for six weeks.
That was my wake-up call.
Sick in bed, stressed about my income flow (or lack of, since I wasn’t treating patients), concerned about the future of my business, and worried about my health, I resolved to find a smarter way to make money–one that didn’t require me to show up to get paid.
What would that look like? I wondered.
I started dreaming about an online wellness business to compliment my practice. Some sort of store with products to offer my patients, or an online nutrition program–YES! That’s what I wanted!
I started reading books about money, wealth, and finances. I started following women on social media who had created what I wanted to create–a thriving online wellness business, and more importantly: residual income.
This new term, “residual income,” proved to be exactly what I was looking for: A way to get paid over and over from doing the work one time. Similar to royalties, or being a landlord.
Since I wasn’t a pop singer, and didn’t have enough money to start buying properties, I opened my mind to the most affordable way to start a business that would build residual income: network marketing.
Before you roll your eyes, let me tell you that never in a million years did I think I would be interested in, let alone passionate about, network marketing. The little I did know of network marketing made me quite sure it wasn’t for me.
Until I did my research.
Surprisingly, I found that prominent long-time mentors of mine in the women’s health and wellness world were already involved in network marketing and loving it. They can’t all be wrong, I thought!
I found that network marketing isn’t what it used to be. It’s legit, and it’s seriously awesome.
The company I found to partner with is publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange, they’ve been successfully growing for over 20 years, and their health products are top notch backed by years of scientific research.
Once I got over my preconceptions of network marketing and found the right company to partner with, it felt like a no-brainer.
That was four years ago.
Now I have an online wellness business that has allowed me to go on a stress-free maternity leave not once, but twice (this August), as well as stay home with my daughter while working less than part-time doing what I love as an acupuncturist.
Plus, I get to meet women from all over the world, and help them get healthier and happier! A total dream business.
