How To Accomplish Your Goals Without Losing Steam (Or Self-Esteem)

How To Accomplish Your Goals Without Losing Steam (Or Self-Esteem)

A real inspiration killer is trying to work toward a goal when you needed that goal to happen yesterday. Or 5 years ago. Whether it be a financial goal, a health goal, or a life goal, if the “getting there” doesn’t feel good, or if you feel desperate for it to happen, you will block any flow of divine creativity, love or abundance, which would help you reach your goal. Let’s face it, setting goals can be stressful. It sounds like a good idea at first, but as time goes by and you’re working your tail off and your progress is not what you expected, or the timeframe changes, or the path doesn’t look anything like what you envisioned, you can start to question yourself. With New Year’s just two weeks away, I think it’s important to address this popular topic of goal-setting, and offer some new insights that will make setting and reaching for your goals a more rewarding and empowering experience.   Try these simple, yet...

Lessons Learned From A Burglary, Don’t Do What I Did

Lessons Learned From A Burglary, Don’t Do What I Did

Last Thursday morning, our house was robbed. While I was in it. With my infant daughter. Nursing in the bedroom. At 8:30am. (It gets more and more unbelievable, doesn’t it?) I’m not normally overly concerned with safety. Well, my husband would argue that, but let’s just say I’ve always felt safe in our house and our neighborhood. My husband bought our house 12 years ago, and he’s never had a break-in. Thankfully, thankfully, no one was hurt and material items can be replaced. But I learned way too many lessons in the past few days not to share them with you. After all, I believe your health is so closely tied to feeling safe in the world, and there are a few easy things you can do to prevent the worst case scenario, or handle it a little easier if something were to happen. Since both our MacBooks and my iPhone were stolen, I’m going to share with you some strategies to protect the information on your electronic...

Holiday Blog Series: How To Add More Time To Your Day (Really!)

Holiday Blog Series: How To Add More Time To Your Day (Really!)

What if I told you it’s possible to add more time to your day? You might think I’m crazy or hippy-dippy, or both. But you’ll be thanking me when you suddenly realize you have plenty of time to get all your last minute holiday shopping, cooking, cleaning and organizing done. 🙂 Sound impossible? In Gay Hendricks’ book, The Big Leap, he introduces a concept called Einstein Time. (If you haven’t read this book, I highly recommend it, especially if you are interested in taking your life to the next level of goodness.) Einstein time vs. Newtonian time Hendricks reminds us of Einstein’s theory that time is not some external force of nature, time actually comes from you — in other words, time is relative. Think of how time contracts and expands depending on what you’re doing or thinking about. When you’re with someone you love, hours seem to fly by, whereas if you’re waiting at the DMV to renew your driver’s license 1 minute seems like 12 hours....

Holiday Blog Series: 5 Easy Steps To Banish Stress For Good

Holiday Blog Series: 5 Easy Steps To Banish Stress For Good

The holidays can be a stressful time of year, but many of us are experiencing stress year-round. Some of us are so stressed that we don’t even realize we’re stressed and think it’s a “normal” way of being. Ack! As an acupuncturist, I see case after case of disease and disharmony in the body that’s caused by, you guessed it, STRESS. I cannot STRESS to you enough the importance of banishing stress from your life as much as possible. As I tell many of my patients, it’s totally possible to be busy and not stressed. You can still get a lot done, in fact you can get even more done, when you are operating from a calm, centered, energy efficient state of mind.   Here’s how I do it: Throughout the day, every time I take a sip of water I stop for a few seconds, take a deep belly breath and say to myself, “Hello, Josie. Are you in “fight or flight” mode right now? Or are...

7 Ways To Fall and Stay Asleep Easily Without Using Sleeping Pills

7 Ways To Fall and Stay Asleep Easily Without Using Sleeping Pills

Do you struggle to fall asleep and stay asleep? Do you wish you had a nighttime routine that you actually look forward to? Here are a few tried-and-true tips to increase your Mr. Sandman luring abilities: 1) Eat a SMALL snack before bed such as one or two of the following: whole grain crackers, cheese, turkey, fig, date, apricot, banana, small glass of milk (soy, hazelnut, almond or hemp milk are great alternatives). Those of us who are night owls also tend to be what we call “Yin deficient” in Chinese medicine. All these foods nourish the Yin, which help our bodies calm down and rest at night. 2) Stretch before bed. Do a simple forward bend, where you sit down with your legs and feet straight out in front of you and slowly reach for your toes, holding a position that feels comfortable for 2-5 minutes. This pose relaxes your nervous system and tells the body that it’s time to rest. (There are also some very short, doable...
