5 Weight Loss Mistakes Every Woman Makes

5 Weight Loss Mistakes Every Woman Makes

Weight loss is not about deprivation or discipline; it’s about giving your body proper nutrients so that you are finally able to ditch bad-for-you cravings, make healthy food choices and release weight.  As an acupuncturist that specializes in women’s health and nutrition, I’ve coached hundreds of women from all over the world through my online weight loss programs since 2010. And, speaking from experience, I have easily released 40 lbs that I gained with my second pregnancy using the same techniques I teach. I’ve watched women get life-changing results from making a few important but crucial tweaks in their diet, and you can, too. Here are the five most common weight loss mistakes I’ve seen women make:    Counting calories — All calories are not created equal. Learn To Make Postpartum Recovery Nepali Rice Pudding

Learn To Make Postpartum Recovery Nepali Rice Pudding

I first met Julia when I was pregnant with my second daughter and about to deliver. Without further ado… At first I was intimidated by the Ayurvedic ingredient list, but I was pleasantly surprised to find we already had almost everything we needed in the pantry, fridge, and garden to make the recipe I wanted to try: Nepali rice pudding. With useful tidbits throughout the book about how to treat common postnatal issues like constipation, depression, sciatic pain,...

Taking Back Postpartum: My Weight Loss Journey

Taking Back Postpartum: My Weight Loss Journey

The childbearing phase of a woman’s life brings with it a whole host of additional body image issues. As if the teenage years weren’t brutal enough. During my first pregnancy at age 32, I gained 26 lbs. and lost it all within six months of delivering. I followed my own nutrition advice and bam. Easy-peasy. During my second pregnancy at age 34, I gained 50 lbs. and losing it has been humbling. My second daughter just turned one, and people still ask me how my pregnancy is going, if I’m having a boy or a girl, and how excited I must be to have a third on the way. The first few times that happened, I was absolutely mortified. I’ve never been overweight, and for the first time in my life I felt embarrassed about my body for being too big instead of being too small. (Can’t win, right?) Somewhere along the way, my brain has learned that if I want to look beautiful, successful, and healthy, I am supposed to...
