Drastically Improve Your Fertility Using This Little Known Method

Drastically Improve Your Fertility Using This Little Known Method

As an acupuncturist and women’s health specialist, I treat numerous infertility cases at my clinic where I almost always make recommendations to improve the digestion. Why improve the digestion to increase fertility? From a Chinese medicine perspective, your digestive health is reflective of the health of your Spleen Qi. Your Spleen Qi is responsible for holding a pregnancy, preventing miscarriage, producing enough blood to have regular cycles, and absorbing the proper nutrients to nourish an embryo. Women with weak Spleen Qi can suffer from fatigue, dizziness, nausea, low appetite, weight gain, lack of motivation, light or missing periods, spotting, PMS, irregular menses, and frequent miscarriage, among other symptoms.   Here are 6 simple things you can do to improve your digestion which will strengthen your Spleen Qi, and as a result, drastically boost your fertility:   1) Take digestive enzymes and probiotics. Digestive enzymes will help improve the nutrient absorption from your food, relieve gas and bloating, and regulate bowel movements. They can be taken as needed. Probiotics,...

In Defense Of Pink: How Embracing Your Femininity Can Prevent Disease

In Defense Of Pink: How Embracing Your Femininity Can Prevent Disease

I know you’re not supposed to call little girls princesses anymore, or even tell them they’re pretty or beautiful (lest they think they’re not smart). I know it’s not cool to overdo it where the color pink is concerned. It’s hip to be gender neutral. I get it. Well, today’s post is a plea for femininity. This plea that has more far reaching consequences than you might think, especially where your health is concerned. Having a little girl, with a second one on the way, I’ve become acutely aware of prejudices that exist in the world around gender stereotypes–particularly, the feminine ones.   I am a feminist. I’m also about as feminine as you can get.   I love a good lipstick, the color pink, dressing up, and gabbing with girlfriends. And I feel just as strongly about my right to be feminine in a masculine world and the power and strength present in feminine energy. When I get into conversations with other parents about discouraging their daughters from...

Secrets Of A Successful Wellness Business Owner

Secrets Of A Successful Wellness Business Owner

I want to talk about a bit of a taboo subject in the health and wellness world:  money. Why do I want to talk about money? Because I believe that your health and your finances are inextricably linked. I also believe that we all need to learn how to make a comfortable income (with plenty of time to enjoy it) so we can live our purpose on this planet. The world needs it. Badly. I have a confession to make:  I only work three days a week (sometimes less) and I make a full-time income. But it wasn’t always that way. Five years ago, I was working full-time at my acupuncture clinic treating 25-30 patients a week and making a great income.   After working so hard for months on end, however, my body finally waved a white flag and I came down with pneumonia. I had to cancel my patients for six weeks.   That was my wake-up call. Sick in bed, stressed about my income flow (or lack of, since I wasn’t...

You’re More Of A Leader Than You Think

You’re More Of A Leader Than You Think

I used to think I wasn’t a leader. Whenever someone talked about “leadership” I assumed it didn’t concern me. I don’t have any employees, I work for myself, I’m not planning on starting a revolution any time soon.   Recently, I’ve realized being a leader means becoming internally aligned with your message, your purpose for being on the planet.   It means loving yourself and knowing that you are worthy to speak and be heard. It means being vulnerable and tough simultaneously. I know my purpose for being on this planet is to spread the message of women’s health and empowerment. If I could have my way, it would be that every woman feel beautiful, healthy, powerful, honored, and financially free. (And, yes, money is a big part of the women’s health and empowerment picture!)   I believe we all have a purpose for being here, a special gift to improve other’s lives.   I believe you have a bigger impact than you realize, and I believe if you put...

My Favorite Spring Recipe: Omega Yogurt Berry Popsicles

My Favorite Spring Recipe: Omega Yogurt Berry Popsicles

Spring is quickly transitioning into summer here in Colorado–YAY!–and one of my all-time favorite snacks (and pregnant cravings) is yogurt, fresh berries and honey. I love this recipe that I found from Dale Pinnock’s book Healing Foods. He takes my favorite ingredients and makes them into simple, medicinal recipes that I often recommend to my friends and patients. Pinnock’s “Omega Mania Ice Lollies” are an excellent spring / summer treat to easily up your omega intake. Plus, this recipe includes my main criteria for a good recipe: no cooking. 😉   Why increase your omegas?   Omega fatty acids (like fish oil or flax seed oil) are wonderful for balancing your hormones and mood, producing radiant skin, shiny hair, and strong nails, boosting fertility, supporting a healthy pregnancy, and so much more. Yogurt nourishes Kidney yin in Chinese medicine, which plays a huge role in women’s fertility, as well as improves digestion due to its probiotic content. Honey can help alleviate or prevent pesky allergy symptoms that arise...
